The Challenge
An estimated 80% of films never reach the international market - not for lack of quality, but because they are never selected into the major festivals that sales agents and buyers watch. Without that selection, there is no access to a seller. And without a seller, there is no market.
Between them, Cannes, Berlin, and Venice - the world's three most important festivals - select more than 500 films, and those three events absorb a large share of the films that reach theatrical release internationally, aside from US titles and each market's own national releases.
